Ipod Shuffle Washing Machine

Hi I'm new

My Girlfriend's sister stuck her ipod shuffle 2nd gen in the washing machine...

Anyone got any do's or don'ts as to how I could proceed in either getting it fixed or fixing it myself.

I've read they can dry on their own over time in an airing cupboard.
