Seb, don't hate me...
I just bought a Dell PowerEdge 500SC for $290 shipped after $250 rebate...
Specs: 1.1 GHz Celeron (tualatin based???,) 128 MB ECC SDRAM, 20 GB HDD, onboard Intel NIC, no OS, ServerWorks LE chipset, etc.
If I had opted to build something ~$300, it would probably be no better spec'd. It's going to be my FreeBSD plaything...
I'm told it can overclock well if it is indeed a Tualatin, but the ServerWorks board may prevent me from doing so.

Dude! You got a Dell!
Hehe. Nice specs. I'm guessing you're gonna use it as a uhh, web server?

OK. I'm over it now. I like you again.
Afterall, I've got a Gateway sitting on the desk right beside me - I'm not immune (I never use it but, hey, go for it).
Well, I've got guests in from out of town - we're off to sight-see. No time for a longer (or obviously more responsive) reply at the moment.
Have fun, and good luck (boy am I tired).
