Faulty G3

Hi, folks.

I have an iMac G3 for repair.

Pressing the power button on the main unit, the button lights, then flashes, long-short, long-short, etc.

Nothing else happens - no screen, no chime, no disk activity.

Any ideas, and where can I get this (and other) Power-on Self Test (POST) information?

Cheers,

Ian.

I would reseat the RAM modules and try rebooting again and if the problem persisted, wouldn't spend anymore time and effort on it, it's quite old machine and can't run much of anything anymore.

Perhaps someone could use it for parts.

    Hi, SpotOn (and everyone else).

If I had more, I'd probably junk it, but...

    1. I'm a techno collector, and I got this iMac real cheap.

    2. I have a good assortment of Apple hardware, and how can you *not* have an iMac amongst the collection?

    3. Having never let any gadget beat me (inculding a television camera from a flying bomb!), I'd like to fix this Mac.

I'll try the RAM reseat, but....

Does anyone have the actual POST behaviours in a list?

    Cheers,

    Ian.

It used to work A-okay, then a replacement G4 was bought and the G3 sat in a drawer for like a year. It was taken out of said drawer and has not booted up since I think that if they have the g3's in stock, then yes. But if not, then they have no other option then giving you a g4.
