iphone 4 wireless N wifi

Got a new iphone 4 and thought it would see/utilize the wireless N networks I use with iPad. Could there be something wrong with device? It does not show any of them, only the "G" and lower networks. I recall one of the features being that it would be able to use wireless N networks, unless I was misinformed - can someone shed light on this - thank you.
