I prefer to think that rock (real rock) is hibernating.

People have been saying "rock is dead" since rock was born.

Rock's alive and well, it's just not on MTV or popular radio anymore.

Ughhh, I'm going to see Queens of The Stone Age tomorrow night. Definitely one of the best rock bands I've heard in years. As far as rock n roll goes I'm going to see The Hives in a couple of weeks and I'm so excited for that show I can hardly stand it.

Naah... Rock ain't dead. Just that everyone went into the studio all at once. They'll be coming back out in about a year or two with a bunch of great new stuff and all will be well again.

    Who, The

    Long Live Rock

Down at the Astoria the scene was changing,

Bingo and rock were pushing out X-rating,

We were the first band to vomit in the bar,

And find the distance to the stage too far,

Meanwhile it's getting late at ten o'clock,

    Rock is dead they say,

    Long live rock.

Long live rock, I need it every night,

Long live rock, come on and join the line,

Long live rock, be it dead or alive.

People walk in sideways pretending that they're leaving,

We put on our makeup and work out all the lead-ins,

Jack is in the alley selling tickets made in Hong Kong,

Promoter's in the pay box wondering where the band's gone,

Back in the pub the governor stops the clock,

    Rock is dead, they say,

    Long live rock.

Long live rock, I need it every night,

Long live rock, come on and join the line,

Long live rock, be it dead or alive.

    Landslide, rocks are falling,

Falling down 'round our very heads,

We tried but you were yawning,

Look again, rock is dead, rock is dead, rock is dead.

The place is really jumping to the high-watt amps,

'Til a 20-inch cymbal fell and cut the lamps,

In the blackout they dance right into the aisle,

And as the doors fly open even the promoter smiles,

Someone takes his pants off and the rafters knock,

    Rock is dead, they say,

Long live rock, long live rock, long live rock.

Long live rock, long live rock, long live rock,

Long live rock, long live rock, long live rock.

Long live rock, I need it every night,

Long live rock, come on and join the line,

Long live rock, be it dead or alive.

Explanation PB: Rock isn´t dead it just smells funny.

Explanation 10.0.0: Rock isn´t dead. It just evolved.

Explanation V. 10.1.4: The only rock worth listening to isn´t dead but have transformed itself from the various late 80/early 90 british and US indie scenes into a large net of very different but very interesting sub genres.

Explanation V. Jaguar: Rock is dead. Long live post rock

Yeah yeah so what if post rock is the new grunge (overhyped, overused mass phenomen)? Tortoise ROCKS.

Over and out and good night from Copenhagen

Rock ain't dead...you just ain't looking hard enough (and listen to corporate rock stations). There are hundreds of possibilities and you're too lazy to find them.

    Try:

    1. College Radio

    2. The Web

    4. Local Club

    ...keep lookin' and listening...they're there.

    ...of course there's still Iggy... <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

What Artman said. Rock definitely isn't dead. Just a little tougher to find, that's all.

You can't look to the traditional sources anymore (MTV, Top 40 radio, etc.).

Just saw Queens of The Stoneage last night. Dave Grohl was on drums and Mark Lanegan sang about five songs. Some of the best rock I've heard in ages. If you get a chance check out their show.
