I'm totally not going to get into this whole nonsense here, but if you own the disk, rip to your heart's content. If you're Netflixing or renting it, don't be an idiot; don't do it.

Addendum: I've found that I get great rips with just standard HandBrake settings. MP4 video, H.264 encoding, two pass, and something like 1-1.2GB per file.
