Hi there! I have a wonderful macbook pro but I am having problems with my computers in my house, several of them have apache2 on them and I can connect to them using IP address for example Http://192.168.2.1/

But my mac won't connect using http://server01/

My other computers can connect using hostnames, but my mac won't, it won't even ping them!

Help please!!!

You can configure the names using your hosts file, which is in /etc/hosts. If you keep your machines at fixed internal IPs, it will work better.

Apple uses Bonjour to see network devices so perhaps if you install Bonjour for Windows (if it's Windows and not Linux) on the Apache machines, it might make the machines visible to the Mac system.
