Are YOU ready for some football!?

With the Steve Spurrier-led Redskins laying down 38 on the 49ers we've got the makings of an interesting NFL season coming up.

The expansion Houston Texans make their NFL debut in their first pre-season game ever three years after the NFL granted them another team after former Houston Oilers owner took the Oilers to Tennessee (now the Tennessee Titans).

The game is tonight, 7 p.m. central on ABC.

October can't get here quickly enough. Al and John got nothing on Gary and Barry! Although, I admit, I am ready for some football because baseball officially sucks.

I come in here thinking it's a conversation about real football and it's about American football

Haven't you learned by now the pre-season games don't mean didly? If you'll recall, the vikings went undefeated and looked like world beaters in the preseason last year.

    At any rate, go Pack!

I realize the pre-season means little (look at the pre-season records for the 90s Super Bowl Cowboys), I just found it interesting because it shows that Spurrier's Fun'N'Gun offense from UFlorida might not be the bust in the NFL that so many expect it to be.

    Jamie:

I would never start a thread about soccer.

I think Groverat should've taken Dennis Miller's spot on MNF instead of John "Boom!" Madden. That guy is so cliche now it's ridiculous. Tough Actin' Tinactin figured it out the hard way.

How the hell do you think I feel?

Since I am from Gainesville Florida and a Gator Fan,

just seeing those guy wearing indian outfits is still just too weird!

Why did Steve sign with the Skins? Jax Jaguars needed him more.

Beside this would have been the year for everything named Jaguar, Football and Mac OS X.2.

Football will be interesting this year. My home team (Ravens) are holding their traning camp in good 'ol Westminster right now, so it's pretty cool to go and watch. While I know they are "rebuilding" (read: They will suck) I have my wonderful Packers!!! Go Packers!

Well, Groverat, The game was pre-season. It was almost pre-pre-season. I mean you've got Garcia in there for about a quarter where they marched into the red zone 2 or 3 times willy-nilly. You saw a field goal fake attempt and stuff like that. the Niners definitely weren't making much of an attempt at winning. I mean the basically signed a Japanese linebacker for the fun of it just so he could play.

The Niners' big test will be the secondary. Ahmed Plummer and Zack Bronson are now the vets of the Niner secondary, heh.

But anyway, it's going to be more of the same in the NFC West. Rams on top. the Niners will have to battle the Seahawks for 2nd.

Geez, has Washington got enough Gators?

    Matthews

    Weurfel

    Doering

    Anthony

    Green

    + A couple I think I forgot.

My man Sage Rosenfels has got no shot!

BTW, did anyone notice Weurfel looks about 40 off the field?

You might just be a defensive Niners fan, but you'll notice I noted the insignificance of the game. I realize the Niners' starters didn't really play for the majority of the game.

You have to be from his area or have ties with his college to call Sage Rosenfels your man.

    Yikes.
