The September 11 Digital Archive

A website to see and submit your accounts, stories, photos from the 9|11 attacks. I found the photo archive a little meandering; jumping from one place to another and before and after the attcacks, but some images are startling, sad and uplifting. I couldn't link to any of the images so I'd suggest just going and taking a look.

Thought I'd pass this along...because we should never forget.

Trust me, we never will even come close to forgetting.

There seems to be no possibility of us even getting a 5 minute respite from 9/11 coverage.

I don't want to seem as if I'm downplaying it in any way. But one entire year without being able to avoid it for a moment tells me we will most likely never forget.

Ya, I know. That phrase was kinda cliche. I watched Frontline's 9|11 report last night and what a good take on the memories, reflections and tests of faith the subjects they interviewed had. It really made me get more of a focus on what I question and believe now after 9|11. I highly reccomend seeing this report.

Although I'd honestly like to forget and not EVER think about it, I feel an obligation to continue reminding myself of what happened.

I say, WE MUST ALWAYS REMIND OURSELVES.

Does it have any pics of the missile just after the second plane hits?

Frontline, as usual, was excellent. I'm not sure it changed anything in my eyes, but it was a very worthwhile viewing.

Makes you feel like you (meaning me) should be doing more right now.

While I agree with you, there is a fine line between always remembering, and obsessing over it. I think we are very close to crossing that line. Some people seem to think we must always be reminded virtually every second of the day every day forever.

That is not the kind of rememberence that is healthy, or productive.

Agreed. That's why I like the web sites like the one above, and the stuff like CNN's sections. I can access them whenever I want, and don't have to have it "shoved down my throat."

Remember, however, that much of what's been happening in the world has been influenced by what happened 9/11. Hard to talk about some stuff w/o mentioning it. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

Bush just named September 11th "Patriot Day"....gee, that's original.

    I'll always remember it as 9|11 not some pat political tag line... <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

The fact the human aspect has long since been eclipsed and utterly overwhelmed by the national ego aspect reallly sickens me.

Just leave it to the sensationalistic media to take a time of pure humanity (both good and evil) and distort it for ratings. I wonder how long before people become sick of being (force)fed this sort of thing before they back off. Personally, I quit watching t.v. months ago because I was tired of it. Now I seek out what I want when I want it. "Kill your television" as the saying goes. :/

I was surfing the web during lunch today and came across this peculiar incident during the day of 9-11. Did anyone ever resolve the mysterious and bizarre collapse of WTC #7, a 47 story building with a very large footprint a whole city block from the twin towers?

This is what Larry Silverstein (the property magnate/developer who bought the lease on the WTC site shortly before the attacks) said on the day of 9-11:...

    Quote:

"I remember getting a call from the fire department commander telling me they were not sure they were going to be able to contain the fire...and I said, 'Well, you know, we've had such terrible loss of life...maybe the smartest thing to do is, is 'pull' it...and they made that decision to 'pull'...uh, and we watched the building collapse."

Here is the sound clip, taken from a PBS broadcast almost a year afterwards: http://www.forlarasbenefit.org/philspictures/PullIt.mp3

Owner Silverstein uses the phrase "pull it". Does this mean to deliberately demolish the building?

On the audio clip below , a demolition worker refers to "pulling WTC #6"...ie demolishing it with explosives several weeks after the attacks:

    http://www.forlarasbenefit.org/phils...es/PullIt2.mp3

and, a short article about WTC7 here:

    http://www.media-criticism.com/World...er_7_2003.html

My point: Why did the government/FEMA spend so much time and effort into preparing such a detailed report that is completely redundant? "Pulling" a building the size of WTC7 requires careful planning re. placement of demolition charges etc.

Here is the official report by FEMA, for what its worth:

    http://www.house.gov/science/hot/wtc...rt/WTC_ch5.pdf

The destruction of WTC7 looks like a highly controlled demolition. How and when did the demolitioncharges get set and arranged in the chaos of the day of 9-11, a job that usually requires very careful planning? Are there any structural engineers on this board? Video of WTC collapse:

Why is the government lying to us about this, and why has the media been silent about it?

Re. this topic...perhaps fatso Michael Moore will address this in his forthcoming movie...that is, if his corporate sponsors allow it.

Yea SJO they took the building down on purpose. It's all a big conspiracy between the neo-cons, Israel (who can tell the difference?) and the Port Authority.

...and two years later there are still questions. Plus the ignorance of others...

I don't think that WTC building #7 was "pulled". With a situation of fully fueled jetliners colliding with two of one of the tallest buildings in the world...you expect the unexpected.

I wish I had videotaped that day 0f 9|11 (morbid yes, but still...). There were many instances where I questioned what I was watching...

    - The press conference broadcasted on CNN of the Taliban in Afganistan catagoricaly denying anything to do with 9|11. I would really like to see that again and see if there were Al Quaida members there (I thought I saw two).

    - The MSNBC broadcast that afternoon when the WTC #7 collapsed. They were pretty close...

Let's just remember that the vitcims of that day can't be heard anymore. But we still should remember them and try to find the answers to the questions...

    - Was the Air Force ordered to stand down? And if not, did they shoot down flight 93?

    - How, in some amazing situation...was a passport from one of the hijackers recovered on the street in Manhattan?

    - Why haven't the black boxes from the hijacked WTC attackes data ever revealed?

There are more...but I thank you for reviving this post. I forgot how much more objective and less cynical I once was after 9|11...

which brings me to the miss-use of the never forget slogan.

The holocaust is something which should not be forgotten. 9/11 while an atrocious event is in no way shape or form equivalent to the atrocities committed during wwII. In the grand scheme of things, it is the modern equivalent of the bombing plots that occurred during the early 20th century... Those changed policy but were forgotten.
