iPad 2 in China

My wife is Chinese and would LOVE an iPad. She would like to be able to use the 3G or 4G or whatever when she visits her parents in China.



Will both AT&T and Verizon models work. Neither?

    Neither. They're both locked to AT&T and Verizon, respectively.

    Does that mean there is no way she can get the internet in China other than wifi, or do Verizon or AT&T have service in China.

    Nope, plenty of Chinese cellular carriers to choose from.

    Absolutely not. You'd have to unlock the iPad to get it to work elsewhere, meaning buying a Verizon iPad would be foolish. You'd get an AT&T one, wait months for the unlock, then put in the SIM from whatever Chinese carrier you choose.

    You could buy an iPad first gen and unlock it over here or she could buy the Chinese model over there when it comes out and use the service...
