keeping in the spirit of the time of year (halloween), i thought id start a thread to introduce some good "mood" music to inspire the type of atmosphere required for this time of year.

i only have one recommendation = delerium

their older stuff is just incredible. very dark, and some people say it's scary, although it's really not so bad. great stuff for halloween.

anyone else have anything good to recommend?

I play Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra for our trick-or-treaters. Creepy stuff.

    Doubting Thomas and/or Skinny Puppy

If you choose Delerium, make sure it's the earlier stuff, like from Stone Tower. Maybe try some Front Line Assembly (Implode, Gashed Senses and Cross-fire or Millennium) or Noise Unit (Drill), both Leeb and Fulber projects. Lots of sounds and dialog taken from movies like Army of Darkness and Lord of Illusions. FLA tends to be more inspired by sci-fi on some albums though.

I don't know about creepy but the score from Fight Club has some seriously warped-sounding tracks that sort of fit the Halloween mode. The Dust Brothers put together some crazy sh*t on that CD.

Type O Negative's cover of "Black Sabbath," on the Nativity in Black, tribute to Black Sabbath vol. 1 CD.

"People are Strange," Echo and the Bunnymen, and "Cry Little Sister," Gerard McMann, both from the Lost Boys soundtrack.

Damn! Mike keeps putting his fingers into so many things it's hard to keep up. I'm a big fan of Bungle and Fantomas (even Adult Themes for Voice on a weird day)...gotta love him. Thanks for the heads up!

Oh yeah, well the misfits....only their covers were creepy.

Butthole Surfers do some damn scary music...go to their <a href="http://www.buttholesurfers.com/lpmp3.html"; target="_blank">website</a> and download "Mark Says Alright"...or any other of their creepy songs... <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

Anything by Eminem or TooPakDaFudge or one of those scares the hell out of me!

Seriously, Danny Elfman writes some good score music that's scary. His score for Darkman was underrated, but you can hear what it sounded like if you listen to what John Williams did for AOTC.

Have you got that on CD? I've never been able to find it and no one seems to ever have heard of it. My cassette tape hasn't seen the light of day in 15 years or so, but I loved that album.
