Happy Halloween!
Ah, my favorite holiday!
So many cool things about this time of year...
The weather, the classic, classy monster movies with guys like Lugosi and Chaney, all the attention paid to the supernatural, etc.
I like the idea that there's something beyond our understanding even if I don't "believe" in the Fox Mulder sense, and Halloween celebrates that.
In pagan times Samhain was a day when the wall between the worlds of the living and dead was thinnest, and even if it's all in the mind, I swear I can sort of feel it!
And heck, the fact that women can dress all slutty without feeling guilty doesn't hurt either!

Comercialized crap, that we have no tradition for, and now we're suddenly expected to stock up candy and buy silly costumes. Whats next? tanksgiving turky and decorating our houses with silly lights on christmas?
I hate how halloween is spreading to europe...

i agree with you :
Haloween in europe bad, in US good. Reason : no tradition in europe.
The problem is that even i try to resist, Haloween is very popular among kids ... they love it. When you will have kids it will be very difficult for you to resist

yea, kids love it cuz all the free candy. it used to be one of my favorite days of the year.
then, as my friends and i got older and did less trick-or-treating, we started being crazier on holloween. fights, and eggs hurled at cars was the order of the day. those were good time too.
now, as we've matured past those silly little gaims, i kno that holloween is just another reason to get smashed and stoned, and i'm okay with that. as if i needed an excuse for that stuff.
oh well, beer me.
SO much for naked lesbians dancing in the forest. Darn!
Anyway I love Halloween, nothing like a good Halloween party and I have one tonight and one tomorrow. Anyone dressing up?

Ooh hey, am I ever! I spent way too much time yesterday on Halloween. I carved my pumpkin lantern, which looks pretty spiffy (and scary), even if I say so myself. I baked gingerbread men. I also finished sewing my witch costume. I bought a bunch of candy, too, because one of the apartments in my building has a couple of kids, and their mom asked if it would be okay if they called trick or treating.
Tonight, I'm going to a party at a friend's place. Well, if I can get my darned broomstick started. It's the cold weather, you know.

Belle, you are our beloved witch (nice custom title isn't it ?)
Spooooooky
-Dead Kennedys
So it's Halloween
And you feel like dancin'
And you feel like shinin'
And you feel like letting loose
Whatcha gonna be
Babe, you better know
And you better plan
Better plan all day
Better plan all week
Better plan all month
Better plan all year
You're dressed up like a clown
Putting on your act
It's the only time all year
You'll ever admit that
I can see your eyes
I can see your brain
Baby, nothing's changed
[repeat]
You're still hiding in a mask
You take your fun seriously
No, don't blow this year's chance
Tomorrow your mold goes back on
After Halloween
You go to work today
You'll go to work tomorrow
Shitfaced tonight
You'll brag about it for months
Remember what I did
Remember what I was
Back on Halloween
But what's in between
Where are your ideas
You sit around and dream
For next Halloween
Why not everyday
Are you so afraid
What will people say
[repeat]
After Halloween
Because your role is planned for you
There's nothing you can do
But stop and think it through
But what will the boss say to you
And what will your girlfriend say to you
And the people out on the street they might glare at you
And whadya know you're pretty self-conscious too
So you run back and stuff yourselves in rigid business costumes
Only at night to score is your leather uniform exhumed
Why don't you take your social regulations
And shove 'em up your ass
Have a Happy...
Ugghh, is Ireland not part of Europe?

yes, it is. did you go to school ?
the name "halloween" comes from "Hallow's Eve".
do you know what day it is tomorrow ? see !
halloween comes from Ireland (celtics, originally) where Imigrants took it to America in the 1900's and where it became very popular, and is now swapping back over the ocean.
