the commercials you hate most

i generally just tune out and ignore commercials, but occasionally there are some that really get under my skin. one that's really bugging me lately is the hardee's commercial for a chicken sandwich. for those who haven't seen it, there is this chicken walking around with a blank background and a black strip over its breast, a play on the whole you can't show breasts on tv. this narrator then says, "most states prohibit showing large breasts on television. but not if they're on a sandwich." i think ALL states (federal regulation) prohibit showing ANY breasts. So not only is this commercial ridiculous factually, the whole joke of the commercial could be understood without ANY narrator at ALL. While this would generally be good advertising it isn't when the narrator is so very annoying. I refuse to eat the sandwich on the basis of this commercial.

i see just italian commercials here...

ALL commercial for kids toys. they are basically telling that all girls *must* want to play with baby dolls and barbis and live in a pink world, and the boys should have only aggressive toys. Besides most of those commercial have the traders name in the end, giochi preziosi, which is in a horrible pinky syruppy lullaby-style. and they put 10 of these commercials together = minutes ot those. number 1 !!

Swathch. That's pornography. (yes, it's me saying that).

Most sweet snacks. They show just superhappy kids and in the end of the commercials of the creamy buttery fatty nutty biscuits the voice tells "eat well, live better". what have those biscuits to do with eating well?

    Mastercard. yuck.

    3. a new mobile phone that does not exist yet and they have spend 40 million $ or more on a campaign where they show 3 american blondes around the world. the ads have nothing to do with mobile telecommunication. and the company has not started yet.

Probably many otehrs as well, those are the worst i can think about right now.

Anything car/truck related. Here in Memphis we have a large population of extremly rich people who never seem to work and only drive around all day long in hideously expensive cars.

Thus, we have Hummer ads constantly.

The ads for casinos in Tunica Mississippi usually involve incredibly annoying pitches by people who have exxagerated southern accents.

I do get some perverse joy in watching a few reallly, really bad ads.

The Ditech.com guy amuses me on some level. He is just such an unlikely pitch-man.

And I have many fond memories of Bob from Bob's Discount Furniture in Connecticut.

MSN commercials... the tick is annoying

Smirnoff Ice commercials (or at least the one in the Laundromat--its not that it is a bad commercial its just that I have seen it SO many times...It is always on after PTI on ESPN...they need to make a new commercial)

That intel commercial with the 2 laptops in class talking to each other...

a lot of stupid car commercials (the Fight Club-esque VW convertible beetle comes to mind)

The E-Bay commercials are great tho...

    Get in line, Alcimedes

Also I hate anything from the AdCouncil. An example of emotional control and manipulation. The government should have laws against it. I'm tired of call phone ads. My phone broke, and it is cheaper to buy a new package (Phone + service) than replace the part. But I would loose my number again.

    More later... I'm mad again.

i don't enjoy watching almost any personal injury lawyer commercials. i'd name a few but i'm sure they are mostly relative to the area. are they horribly cheesy everywhere?

Chevy Caviler (sp?) but it's the that features that song " bye bye miss american pie" which has that line "til the day i die" er something. you know that damm hippie song i'm talking about. i just think it's morbid with all the people who die in car accidents every year it just seems like a weird song to use. then i think they say something like " with you til the end" er something like that at the end of it. what were Chevy thinking?

Excedrin chewables: the one with the mom chasing the little kid around, when she catches him, he spits a goldfish out into a glass of water. i don't want to see that shee-ite

Comcast broadband internet.: the one where the guy imitates the sound of a modem and makes that obnoxious noise. all comcast ads for that matter. comcast doesn't support macs yet all of their commericals show Macs! hipocrites

Anti-smoking ad with a lady in an office trying to cover up her smoking and then a women comes to see her and coughs abnoxiously. i'm anti-smoking but this ad irritates me

Mike's Hard lemonade i don't want to see that stupid and disgusting second head. all there ads are stupid for that matter

Jeep Renegade the one with a seal, it looks like the guy's going to club it to death and then they talk about how environmental they are er some sh*t

The commericals where they try and sell you a medicine, go tell you to ask your doctor about it, and you are left clueless as to what the condition was and what the medicine is for...

A number of these are probably Canadian, but here goes:

    - Puffs "The moral: A nose in need deserves Puffs indeed!" That really gets me.

    - All Buck-A-Day Company ads. Why buy a clone when you can get a real IBM PC?

    - Cottonelle ad where the guy has napkins stuffed into his toilet paper holder and a woman sings "We don't know why men will use almost anything, Cottonelle."

    - Swiffer's fake behaviour modification ads: "Introduction of dirt stimulus" and "Dirt disposal glory" piss me off.

    - Campbell's soup ads with the family.

    - Captain Morgan spontaneous crap ads.

    - James Bond promo ads: "James Bond's car"

oh right the anti drug commercials...well some of them... esp the one where they say drug users fund terrorism... because all i can think of is all the money they would make if they legalized it and the amount of dealers that would have to find a new way to make money (and probably end up in jail faster)

Can't really think of a specific one, but there's a style of commercial that's been out for a while now. You know the kind I'm talking about:

Usually business-oriented (could be a banking or car rental or networking commercial). They're oh-so serious and self-important. The narrator usually is speaking in ultra-serious tones and the footage has a cool blue tint to it, of "important people, doing business!".

Just that real smug, "we're so important and serious..." corporate-appeal type of ad irks me everytime.

On the FLIP side, however, I also can't stand commercials that are self-consciously "cute" or contrived in their cleverness. Smarmy, fast talking guys (graduates of the Will & Grace School of Fast Talking Hipsterisms and Inside Jokes) with labored theatrics and punchlines.

Just hold up the goddamn aspirin bottle or furniture polish and tell me where to buy it, already! Quit trying to be cute. It's a LAXATIVE, for crying out loud.

They appear ever so frequently and always have this very loud noice. Hate it.

And the prices they show are just so appetising.

Holiday ads. Actually, just about anything xmas related pisses me off, other than the day itself (which is quite a bit of fun, with the family getting together and sharing stories, not to mention the presents). When they combine xmas songs with xmas commercials and some idiot narrator talking about "the season" I just want to puke.

Political ads are pretty bad too. I saw five in a row once - one promoting Mr. A, then one attacking his rival Mr. B, then one by third-party Mr. C talking about how he doesn't do negative ads, then one by Mr. A attacking Mr. B and Mr. C, then one by Mr. B attacking Mr. A.

I think radio ads are worse than TV ads. TV ads can at least tell you a lot about something by just showing it, but radio ads have to describe everything so they end up taking longer AND using really annoying overacted voices to make up for the lack of visuals.

And yes, personal injury attorney ads are all cheesy, everywhere. "Tell the insurance companies you mean business!" "This is all I do and I do it well!" All are crappy low budget ads that are run from the same recording for ten years in a row... there never seem to be any new ones (which might be a good thing).
