Do you know someone who needs a helping hand?

I open this thread to bring attention to the needs of others. Have you ever taken a good look at yourself and realized your blessings? Have you ever seen the heart of others? Their wishes and desires. The motives behind their actions?

Have you felt the pain of others or have you shared with their joy? This last month has been very impressing upon me in many ways. I have been to two funerals of special people. I have extended an ear to a customer of one of my last home sales and found the economic hardship encountered by this person to be of great concern. I have seen that life is not about what we do with our jobs. It is not about what we gather to ourselves. I believe that the beauty of life is greatly seen in how we are there in times of need for others. Do we respond to people who have trying times? Do we embrace them and support them? I have come to the conclusion that service to others and community is a master element in life. I just want to inquire if you have encountered somebody in the last month who needs a helping hand in some kind of way. If you have I also ask you how have you chosen to respond?

Please share the experience you have had with this topic and share if you have had thoughts as to how to respond to the needs observed.

I think everyone is in need this holiday season. Money has never been tighter, and my daughter is the only one receiving gifts this Christmas. We have no further credit available and my two job's pay checks are cashed just to pay the rent and buy food. Bill collectors are calling and we are near our wits end. So many people are having similar Christmases and my prayers are with everyone who is coming up short this year. We have sold just about everthing of value and will likely risk eviction come the 15th of January should we be unable to come up with rent money. Every once in a while folks should stop to pause and realize that they are lucky for the small blessings we have. Thankfully none of us are sick, and most of our family still with us. Although selling your last DVD to buy milk and bread may sound pretty bottom of the barrel, it pales in comparison to some sacrifices made by others. Each evening I pray that tommorrow something will change, that tommorrow a solution will appear, but for now, it's double shifts at two jobs and just not enough hours in the day. The only way out sounds like moving back to our families. We have been married only a few years and generally live very carefully by the numbers...but unfortunatly costs are up, and we may not be able to live together much longer.

I would appreciate any prayers you can offer.

Keep the faith and don't worry your hair out. Stick together as a family and you'll be fine. You or your wife probably have a family member that could use your rent money as much as you could stand to save it. It's so common for families to stick together elsewhere in the world, but it's almost taboo here.

    Don't believe the hype.

Good luck and I hope your daughter has a great Christmas. Santa's on his way....

and on the thread title, yes, I know someone who needs a helping hand, it's mandolux you all know.

I helped him some months ago with money, but it seems now that he's probably not going to make it.

and I am myself standing at the cliff of money.

it's a hard year; was and to be.

    I sure hope so!

Thank you all for your prayers. It is in the darkest times that we see the light. Without His strength I would not have made it this far. I doubt that He will forsake me after all he has helped me through.

On the bright side, we got some newspapers and wrapped all of our daughters gifts. Then we took crayons and colored them with Christmas themes. We lit some candles and downloaded some christmas music which we sat around singing last night and drinking instant cocoa. We have decided that if it is in His plan that we need to seperate for a short time to try and gain our feet back, then we will do it. Many people have been supportive, but our pride has kept us from accepting much other then food.

On the darker side, one of our two cars just died, and now my wife is stuck at home. The phone may be cut off around new years so I will only be posting from work.

It's with a heavy heart that I go to church tommorrow. I just have to keep believing that God is in control and that no matter what happens he will be there from me. He has never let me down, and keeps me from falling.

Blessing be with you also this holiday season. Take a minute and hug a small child to let them know you care. Sing a little Christmas song in your heart every day of the year and the season will go on and on.

Merry Christmas AI community, and a bright seasons greetings to you and your family. Be blessed because He loves you, and you Him.

    Not Unlike Myself, Greetings Friend,

You have a tremendous heart and I know God will hold you and keep you. Give your troubles to God. Rest in the Lord. His Peace is so amazing.

Where do you live? Remember it is not what others think that defines you. You and your knowing of what is truly important in life is all that matters. I see that you have a great sense of these things that truly matter Please remember that Jesus really never had anything but he had everything to give. It is amazing how we can give and find the blessings of God. When your family members open the gifts just take that moment to see their smiles and give them all big Hugs! Love is the most precious item in this big world. You have a tremendous love for your family and it touches my heart to see that.

Keep your Joy! Don't let things get you down. Keep your spitits high and charged as that along with God meeting you half way will pull you through to higher victories and I promise that you will have greater love and admiration for the works of God.

    Please PM me.

Millions of pregnant women in Africa need anti-retroviral drugs to prevent them passing HIV on to their children.

Millions of others need drugs to help them fight tuberculosis, bilharzia, cholera, river blindness and polio.

e.g. giving all my KLM points to that (instead of getting better prices or flights). i got extra points the last time because the flights i was supposed to take were cancelled. and i doubt i will use KLM now (need only something to come to states). KLM had a campaign for that ... and being still without a credit card i couldn't do anything online. i'll have a look online. if that does not work i'll look for something else similar then.
