This is the COOLEST invention EVER!

I have bought the Roomba Robot Vacuum and can I tell you? This is the coolest thing ever!!! It makes vacuuming your house fun! (For two minutes while you watch, but after those two minutes you get bored but go do something else while it vacuums for you.)

This thing allows you to vacuum the house and do something else at the same time! How many of us had a game to watch while your girlfriend or wife or whatever yelled at you to vacuum?? How many had a level to beat on some video game but had their mom breathing down your neck to vacuum? How many of us had friends coming over and the house needed to be vacuumed but you had errands to run and both could not be done at the same time??? Well now it can!!!!

The funny part about this is: when I read the reviews, everybody was surprised because it worked! This little robot actually vacuumed really well! I just thought, pfft! I pay two hundred dollars for anything the damned thing better freakin' work! Then I bought it and I let it loose on one of my rooms and when it was done, I looked at the room and was like, wow. Clean. Then I checked the tray and saw all the crap it picked up (even though I had vacuumed the other day) and I was like, wow! It worked!!

Anyways, coolest invention ever. I just thought you should know.

Why? Then he'd have to broom it all up by hand.

Wood floors are cold in the winter anyways..

I wonder if they have patents on the design and if you can buy stock on it?

one question. i'm actually in the market for a vaccum.

my problem is that our living room has carpeting that leads right to the stairs, which are also carpeted. you know if it's smart enough not to plummet off the stairs while trying to vaccum? i'll read the article in a minute, but figured i'd ask someone who knows first.

    from the article....

[quote]Will Roomba fall down stairs or into a step-down room?

Roomba automatically senses stairs and turns away from them. However, if the room to be cleaned contains a balcony, a physical barrier should be used to prevent access to the balcony and ensure safe operation.

Although Roomba senses stairs on the vast majority of floor surfaces, there is the possibility that rounded stair edges, particularly slippery surfaces, or light colored floors can contribute to the sensors working less effectively. If Roomba is not sensing stairs, try troubleshooting the problem.

found it. lol, i especially like the part where they say if it's having trouble, try the trouble shooting part. only problem is if it just went down the stairs, it might not run any more at all.

    To answer the questions above:

How loud is it? It's quieter then most vacuums and the web site says 80db. In reality, I was surprised that it was as loud as it was because, really, it looks like a toy when it's on the ground. It took me a minutes to realize this thing was a vacuum cleaner, so as far as vacuum cleaners go, it's very quiet. My friend told me he was surprised at how quiet it was, for a vacuum cleaner. All in all, if you're a room watching TV while this thing is cleaning up the next room over, you will barely hear it. As a matter of fact, I didn't even realize this thing had a 'vacuum sucking action' capability until I read the web site link above! I thought it just had rollers. So, given that, I guess it IS quiet.

Secondly, stairs: this thing avoids them like the plague. I tried it out today and was expecting to be chasing this thing down three flights, but it doesn't even get to the point where it's even slightly teetering. I mean, it goes to the stairs and senses the drop and backs off way before it gets dangerous. I was impressed.

Another observation: after cleaning a few more rooms with it today, I've come to this conclusion: either that thing has a built-in dirt creation device to make it LOOK like it's picking up stuff, or this thing is REALLY good.

One last thing: the dust bin where it stores everything it picks up was probably designed by the marketing team. I say this because you must empty it after each room, therefore you see the results of the work the Roomba has done, impressing you each time! If that's not good marketing, I don't know what is.

Hmmm. Curious. Why would one need sex-bots? What's wrong with real women?
