I operate a Mac and macbook. I need to locate a download piece of software which works with the Leopard OS and takes a snapshot picture of my screen into a jpg. Any ideas?

You can take a snapshot of your screen with Grab. It's already on your Mac. I'm not sure if it saves it as jpg though. But you should be able to open the file in Preview (also on your Mac) and save it as a jpg there.

OSX does that for you, jhoncomm.

You've already got that software. Installed too. Ready for use now:

Command-Shift-3 to take a screenshot of the whole screen.

Command-Shift-4 to take a screenshot of part of the screen by dragging the provided cursor.

Snow Leopard for some reason creates .PNG files of screenshots. If necessary they're easily enough converted to .JPG or any other format, of course.

.PNG is a lossless format of course. But for screenshots that seems a bit of a waste.
