UK Iphone 4 in the USA

Hope you can help,



I am moving to the states in September with work and have a personal Iphone 4 which I got 6 months ago on a 24 month contract. I've tried passing it on but no one wants it, so will just pay off the rest of the contact.



Can I take the Iphone to the States and buy a microsim for it out there? I understand I may have to get it unlocked etc but will a UK Iphone 4 work in the states?

    I'd say you'd be better off selling it in the UK on eBay or whatever to recoup some of the contract buyout and then use that money to start a new contract in the US. This way you get options for full insurance and warranty. Just use a cheap GSM dumb-phone in the mean-time, possibly along with a refurb iPod Touch or iPad (good on flights) to let you use your apps and make sure to keep a software backup of your phone. Then wait until the iPhone 5/4S arrives around July-September.
