Why do elitist ****s constantly assume that anyone who does some stupid crap like writing to an advice columnist is a PC user? Do you just use a Mac as a very expensive ego inflater?

Hmm...yes, in fact, I think we do.

Mac users tend to have better educations/higher paying jobs and the like, and your average PC user bought a computer for their kids from WalMart. There's quite a gap.

But I would have to assume that some of them are Mac users as well. I've met my fair share of cracked Mac users; my school's tech admin is one.

Well it's a very stupid thing to do. "I have a different computer so I'm smarter than you! PC users are responsible for all the stupid things done in the world!"

It's a ****ing computer. Some people just don't want to spend so much on a Mac when all they'll do is use e-mail and chat. Some people buy expensive Macs just because they want to show off how much money they have and "be different."

Fact is it's just a machine and there's no reason to say that people who use a PC aren't as smart as people who use a Mac. I'm a PC user, and I'm not stupid. Infact I'm only a teenager and the only computer I could afford was a PC that I built myself, making it much cheaper and much faster than any storebought POS. I'll still use PCs when I can afford Macs because there's no reason to spend so much more on a Mac when you're not too retarded to properly run a PC. You'll find plenty of very intelligent PC users with good jobs and educations. They just don't feel like showing off and being an elitist by getting a machine they don't need so they can make fun of people who use other machines.

Look at me! I'm a PC user! I must be poor and stupid! You are like the Herbert Spencer of the computing world.

I think I'll go write to an advice columnist and hit myself on the head with things!

Not all, just 95% of the stupid things done in the world.

I never wrote to one, but I admit that one of my youthful mischiefs was that I was one, for a short while.

In a really small publication edited by a relative, long gone since (both the the publication and the relative, that is).

My column was something like ?Dear Bluma?, and I was giving really bad advice to good Jewish girls, so it couldn't last.

I wasnt really saying that PC users are stupid, and would therfore write to advice colomists. . . i was just saying stuff to get people thinking.

Although most of the people on these boards are smart enough not to, and they are mostly Mac users, so i made the assumption that Mac users. . at least the ones who post here. . might not.

I'm not looking for a fight. It just pisses me off to no end when I see something like this:

outside of a comic. Anyone who assumes that a person who uses a PC must be uneducated and poor should be kicked in the groin. PCs are a better deal and not everyone has money to burn, it doesn't mean they're some factory worker who doesn't know anything about computers. Just ease up on it. There are a lot of reasons why any well-educated and well-paid person would buy a PC, and they're not any less intelligent or rich for doing so. As for stupid people, well when 95% of the market is PCs there will obviously be more stupid people. That doesn't mean any idiot can't go out and buy a Mac if they want to.

    *ahem*

I think we can all agree that the original comment was made only in jest. The original comment was harmless. The comments that followed were not.

Let's not get this thread locked. From this post on down, we .

    I HAVE!

It was to my local news paper....

The details escape me at the moment, but I believe it dealt with my extreme sleep deprivation, narcissism, paranoia, Communism and the fact that I have no grasp of the concepts of humor or chivalry.

Unfortunately my local paper has no advice column. I am now under house arrest and am not allowed to have strings on my guitar

    </SUBJECT CHANGE>

You know what? I don't really think that Stagger guy was that out of line with his comments even though he seems to be a troll. There is a weird elitist feeling you get from most mac users and a lot of times it is really annoying. It's like they think they're superior because they have discovered what they think is the best OS and they can afford to pay for it because they are more educated and have better jobs. What a load of BS. Anyway, I use a mac because I feel like it and I've never written to an advice columnist.

    Peace out

I've never written to one of them. That seemed to crazy for me.

    But I enjoy reading them.

I think that people who write to such a columnist, are

    a) people who are afraid / unable to ask someone close, for example their parents

    or

    b) have nothing better to do with their time

    or

    c) are "unexperienced" and need help with their lives. (I don't mean that mean)

Anyways, xionja, I think you've cut a very interesting topic; which goes deep into our society- I mean, why can't someone ask his parents or friends ?

    You see the direction.

thanks the gelding and M3D Jack for your support of our girl. that shows the groove here at AI.

No, not a troll. I mean, I'm not a Mac user and I visit this Mac forum because BR told me about it, so I guess I am sort of a troll, but I didn't come here looking for a fight.

Well I consider BR a troll, so you're guilty by association then.

Hey now calm, were smoking. . . i mean chilling

See, advice colomists dont really give good advice, in my opinion, in facts its really shitty. They always contradict themselves. So why would people write them?

And when they print peoples letters correcting the advice that they originally give, then say, wow, this person is right, i was so wrong. This is stupid.

So why do people read them? dear abby piss's me off to no end, but i do manage to read it 3 or 4 times a week. Everyone reads it. no one has time, no one is interested, we all read them. hmmmm. Even the most busy people, and people who seem 'above them'(like english teachers) still do . . . whats up with this?
