Today's hip-hop
I really didn't like Eminem. Couldn't really say why, but I really didn't like him, and The Eminem Show did nothing to change my opinion of him.
Then I heard him at the Grammy's, and I thought. okay, that song's not bad. So I gave the 8-Mile ST a chance.
Oh, my God. that has to be some of the worst rap I've ever heard in my life. Where's the music? It might be mainly about the words, okay, but I find the words neither particularly clever nor enlightening, nor truthful.
"I had a gun before guns was in fashion."
How enlightening.
And what's that song that just keeps repeating "mother****in" over and over again over a horible loop.
And then that brings us to the music.
Take away the raps, and it sounds like a ten year-old and his Casio. The loops are horrid and the sounds have no depth. Where's the talent in programming four notes into a sequencer to repeat ad nauseum?
I've never been a huge rap fan, but with what I've been familiar with, rap has never been this bad with amateur loops. NWA had a great sound to it, and a diversity to vocal styles which added interest to the sound. Even Ice Cube solo had a depth to the music behind his voice. Coolio and Snoop Dogg had great, "cool" sounding jazz loops. Black Sheep had a more mellow sound and Cypress hill had that laid back "smoke dope and leave me alone" sound to it.
Now we gat these idiotic robots who think "fuck, fuck, fuck" is talent. I just don't get it.

As you can tell...not a big fan of current rap music, especially white rap...But the Brand New Heavies...I've been a fan of them for ten years or so.
I like Eminem but i think the rest of the rap world sucks right now, at least pop rap.

Especially 50 Cent. I don't see how he got so damn popular. He's not good and he sounds like an asshole when he's being interviewed and stuff.

Well said. I totally agree
