Converting a WMP stream to QT or MP3?

Does anyone know if there is a way (besides Snapz Pro) to convert a Windows Media Player stream to QuickTime or some other non-crap form of media (like MPEG or MP3)?

I have a terrible time tuning into streams from WMP while running OS X. It would also be cool to burn some stuff to a CD.

Does anyone know how or if this can be done? Thanks in advance.

Here's what you've got to do....

Get the Mac divx player and the appropriate version of wmp here: <a href="http://www.mac.st/"; target="_blank">http://www.mac.st/</a>; Then use the menu option, predecode audio. This will make it a .wav file which you can convert to mp3 with iTunes. Pain in the ass and it requires Classic

Install Flip4Mac (it's free at this link... and legal).

Opening streamed WMP files in browsers will then launch the files in a separate QuickTime player window. Once the file has played all the way through (depending on yourt QT prefs) you may be able to save as, and retain the movie as a self-contained file.

This is the easiest method I have found. Flip4Mac, effectively, replaces WMP and seems to have been adopted as a free plug in from Microsoft to compensate for their decision to halt development of WMP for Macs. Flip used to cost around $10 until M'Soft saw it as a viable replacement for Mac users needs. They can't be all bad...
