Uhhh what does As the Apple Turns have to do with that forum page???

    As the Apple turns is about the only rumor site you can count on not to post total crap as rumor. They often debunk rumor from other sites. The only reason I even bothered following that link was that you mentioned AtAT.

    FIX you're damn post!

    Uh...Matsu, Aries probably means that the link above was mentioned on AtAT...which it is.

    Since I gave rise to completely unintended confusion, let me be more precise in my citations:

    From As The Apple Turns, "New Spokes for Every Hub (2/25/02)"

    (Paragraph 4)

    >>>>>Last but not least, what Digital Hub is complete without a PDA? And unlike the available digital cameras out there, the current crop of PDAs is arguably a lot farther away from the ideal Macintosh-style experience. If Apple were so inclined, it could make some huge improvements in this arena-- heck, even selling the same Newton MessagePad 2100 from four years ago would be a leap ahead of a lot of the dreck out there. Well, for those of you who continue to dream the impossible dream, faithful viewer Keith Isley points out three weeks' worth of rumors and discussion about "Navi," Apple's alleged "Newton 3" project. A Darwin-based, OpenGL-interface handheld that can run Cocoa Mac OS X apps with a quick recompile? Whatever, chief... belief-wise, somehow we're just not feeling the love. But if these mythical beasts ever do see the light of a store shelf, sign us up, because our digital hubs sure could use some shiny new spokes.<<<<<

    "Navi" above was a link to the macosx site listed at the beginning of this thread.

    You're = You + are.

    Your = You (possessive)

    Kormac7X may be crazy , he may be certifiably insane , he may even be a habitual marijuana smoker , but he's light, pleasant company and I enjoy his musings.

    Well, there are a few things to consider here.

    First, the original Newton OS 3.0 project was not codenamed 'Navi'.

    Second of all, if Apple IS going back into Newton development, with a TRUE Newton OS (backwards compatibility with pacakges, etc.), then I think we'd know more about it, as they'd need lots of developers, and fast.

    The fact that Apple completely alienated the Newton OS development community might make people very skeptical about development on another Apple handheld. I've thought a lot about this, as I think it is the main reason that a new Apple PDA might not succeed.

    I was hoping you'd show up, Oh Newton Deity!

    Yeah, I hear you about the smouldering anger felt by many Newton owners.

    However, if a potential, hypothetical, imaginary, absolutely-will-not-happen-nor-resemble-anything-that-Kormac7X-mentioned (there, that ought to placate the righteously, ruthlessly reality oriented Matsu )Apple Portable runs Palm OS in emulation (on whatever OS, be it Newton OS 3.0/Navi or OS X Jr), then who will care if the 'old' cadre of Newton Developers comes aboard or not? 4 years of Comp Sci graduates are out there just waiting to be transfixed by a New Platform. There are also thousands and thousands of Palm Developers out there whose programs might run with little adjustment on the new device. Then again, there is the 'siren song' of *The Newton*. If it comes back from the dead, then I think that, however residually enraged the Newton community is, they will flock back to the Newton successor.

    I'm looking forward to spending this $1000 I have hidden from the wife on the New Newton. She's gonna belt me a good one if she finds out about it! :eek:

    Gotta go. Kids are going nuts and have to go to bed.

    You're the... yeah, Super Ego (in the actual Freudian model), that's GOOD! I was going to blather on for paragraphs about Truth, Justice and what not, but Super Ego's good! Concise, to the point, bravo!

    I still enjoy Kormac 7X's posts, though.
