Flashing Cinema Light

No, I'm not talking sleep mode, but this is a problem I began to encounter soon after I installed OS 9.2 on my G4 Cube 500. I was thinking about upgrading to OS X, so went to 9.1.2, then 9.2, only to learn that my HP OfficeJet G55 had no drivers for OSX (apparently doesn't plan any either....) stopping me cold. I then checked Maxtor and found they have no OSX driver for their External 80 GB drive (attached via firewire). That intermittently appears on the desktop or doesn't, apparently randomly. However, even with that off, I still get problems. Anyone else suffering from 9.2 Cube syndrome?

Not entirely clear to me what your question is. You don't address the problem you mention in the topic.

For what it is worth I have no problems with my Cube and 9.2.2.

My Cinema display has this oddity sometimes at startup (and the screen remains black). A restart fixes it, but it is peculiar to the 9.x.x OS.

Look for something called Apple Monitor profiles or settings and move it out of the folder where it resides, then see if the problem corrects itself.

If worked for me, but the system made a new file and the problem returns after a while.

Thank you two for replying. I did not mean to wander on. When I start up the G4, via either the Cinema Display or the Cube itself, it hangs up in the start-up process, leaving the light flashing, screen blank. Restarting with extensions off gets me back my screen, but it is not 100% sure. Interestingly, in that mode, the whole screen performs quite differently, rippling menu lists and the like. After a shut down and a new start it comes back, but the problem is there the next time it hangs up.

Thanks AirSluf, it worked this time. Wonder if it will persist. <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

Unfortunately, the problem is back again. I wondered if it might be related to hardware like the Keyspan--so took that down-- or software like IE 5, so went to 5.1, but still no. There seems little rhyme nor reason.
