I suppose then, there won't be a press conference until early October? A September 30th press event would give them 2 weeks to launch...Man, the extra wait time this year is killing me!
Oh well, if this is the new rhythm for things, at least it will give me something to look forward to in the fall besides eating moon cakes.

From my experience with iOS5 on iPad 2, 2 x iPhone 4's and 2 x iPhone 3GS' its only the usual music app bugs along with a couple of browser bugs to be squashed. Little enough to expect that the GM is around the corner.

I found beta 1 to be pretty well baked, which I assume was because of the coders working on an assumed 12 month cycle for a June release. It wasn't until beta 2 that some things started getting wonky with additional components for iCloud being added along the way, but since beta 4 or 5 it's been pretty damn smooth. I've have had odd crashes battery drains or other odd issues.
It's also the longest iOS beta cycle they've created. The historically stop at about beta 4 or 5 before going GM.
PS: I did have some issues with Netflix and other video streaming apps early on but that was due to fundamental changes with iOS 5.0 that required the 3rd-party app developer to update there app to accommodate changes.

Are you even a developer? The builds seeded to the public are not the most up-to-date betas they have. Internally they are more than likely two or three builds up from what they seed to the public.

If Apple releases iOS 5 at the same time they announce the iPhone 5, then they will be expecting iOS 5 to provide much of the "wow factor" of the new phone.

One would think so at first glance but these have been coming out fast and with major new features integrated. That is the entire reason for going thru the testing.
