iPhoto doesn't see camera

Hi Guys,

iPhoto is not seeing my digital camera, a Toshiba PDR-M61, so I can't off load it with that app(or Image Capture for that matter), and I'd really like to.

Any thoughts as to why and what, if anything I can do? I've reported this to Apple and Toshiba but haven't heard much.

    Unfortunately, your camera isn't currently supported by iPhoto (The official compatibility list is <a href="http://www.apple.com/iphoto/compatibility/"; target="_blank">here</a>).



    Contacting Apple and Toshiba will hopefully do some good, but I'd also submit a request for support using <a href="http://www.info.apple.com/usen/iphoto/feedback.html"; target="_blank">this</a> form.

    The real sad thing is that not even all the digital cameras sold at Apple Retail Stores are on the compatibility list. I know this from firsthand experience.



    I decided to buy a digital camera after getting fed up with the costs of film and developing. I thought going to the Apple Store nearby would guarantee me getting a quality, compatible camera.



    I got the HP photosmart 318xi for $200. Nothing too flashy, but a good starter camera for a casual user like myself. Not only does the Apple Store sell this camera, they have it on a display that mentions iPhoto AND it's the camera they give you a $50 discount on if you buy a computer with it.



    But is it compatible with iPhoto? NO! Thankfully, the Apple Store gave me a full refund. I went to Best Buy and got the photosmart 318 (no xi). It's fully compatible. The weird thing is, as far as I can tell there is no difference at all between these two cameras. They even come with the same owner's manual! They cost the same too. But one is compatible, one isn't. And the one that isn't is actively promoted by Apple itself. Strange world sometimes.

    Isn't compatibility determined by the file format and "OS" the camera uses?
