Okay, I just ordered my first Mac and it should be in this week (ibook and if like an iMac for my girlfriend and maybe a powermac for me). Anyway, I also have a PC and will probably always have one for games and file-sharing programs, what I was curious about:



1) Airport BS has a spot on it to plug a pc cable into so I can have a pc and wireless laptop on my lan right?



2) If I take my laptop to work, will the PC thats plugged into the BS still work? I keep reading that you have to have at least one Mac enable device on the lan for the BS to work? Is this true? Will my PC not work of I take the laptop out of the LAN area?



Please keep in mind that I am a newbie to Mac.

    OK, so:



    For all intensive purposes you have one PC and one mac.



    The Airport Basestation has an input (from your LAN or cable or DSL connection) and a Category 5 ethernet output. You can plug your non-wireless comp (be it PC or mac) into that output. When you are using your laptop, which is wireless, and you leave the area, everything will work just the same. The Airport Basestation has some gateway/router features that can be setup from the mac, but they don't need to mac once they're setup, as far as I know.

    Great thats what I wanted to know. Thats the exact setup that I will have. Thanks for the help!



    P.S. I have been trying to track my ibook on Fed-Ex....does anyone know why the darn thing has to come all the way from Taiwan?? I mean don't they have any here in the US? <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

    They come straight from the factory to you. The factory is in Taiwan.
