Ti G4's powerbooks and new releases?

I believe I posted this to the wrong forum before, apologies.

I'm looking at getting a Powerbook and would like to know if I should buy now or if anyone has heard anything about new releases for the Powerbooks around July when MacWorld comes around.

For the type of work I do, I think I'm buying it more for the OS and stuck on this overpriced hardware. What's killing me is it's on 667Mhz, I really like the darwin kernel and being a long time linux user ... well, this is what I feel comfortable with and where I'm coming from. But the processor seems so ... *old*?!

Any advice much appreciated.

The TiBook was last updated in December with combo drives standard. It's been almost 5 months since that- Wait a few more for updated TiBooks.

The answer you are seeking lies partly within yourself.

Yes, we are likely to see a TiBook rev for july. Will it be one worth waiting for?

    Only you can decide.

Are we going to get G5's for the TiBook in July? Probably not.

Are we going to get DDR/new architecture for the TiBook in July? Probably not.

Are we going to get integrated Bluetooth or Gigawire or some other new feature? quite possibly.

Are we going to get faster processors? Probably only to bring it up to current desktop speeds (800 or 933).

Are we going to get better battery life? Possibly.

    Hope this helps.

Your overall dilema is similar to mine on the PowerBook. It would be the speed of the processor working with the OSX software that will get me to move everything portable off my trusty G3 Firewire PB with every bay-filler imaginable. I am still running OS 9.1 on that since I dread the swtich-over troubles I first had on my G4 cubes. They are perfect today, but they are, after all, G4.

OK, so what's coming. The truth is nobody is saying. Most of our dreams are wishful thinking, but reasonable guesses would be another way of putting it.

I need at least 800 G4s in there to bring my supper expensive portable up to my G4 iMac! speeds. I need a Combo-drive if Apple wants to stay away from swappable bay configurations in the thin PB mode. I WANT ADC out, so I can hook up to Apple's own flat panels!!!!!!

I HOPE for a new case that might be Titanium light, but more curvacous (sp?) After all, I'll be spending a long, long time with the new one. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />
