Salvaging old laptop LCDs

Okay I'm looking for resources on connecting pulled LCD panels from used PC notebooks, and using them in my own desktop setups. While I know there are tons of variables when doing this kind of work, I'm just wondering if anyone has any good ideas of places to start.
