Problem with Snow Leopard

Hello Forum, First post so please be kind. I am currently running OSX 10.5.8 and need to get to lion for my me account. Have got the upgrade disk for snow leopard as a bridge to install lion and it says i cannot load it as the HD was used for time machine backups.

i phoned apple but no use they told me to repair the disk in utilities and that didn't work, i have also searched for any old Backup folders but cannot find any.

Any idea people, i am pulling my hair out (and I don't have to much left of it)

Thanks

GP

Time Machine has possibly left some hidden folders on the drive although it still shouldn't prevent installation. If you open /Applications/Utilities/terminal and type the following:

    ls -a /

and hit return, it will list all the files in the root of your drive. Copy/paste that list of files in a forum post.
