i turn the airport off everyday i finish;

the next day, i turn it back on, signal level ok,

connection made (as shown in Status) and modem lights blinking,

but i couldnt open a web page or download any mail, turn airport on/off, still nothing,

i have to go to Aiport Adm Utility to update the airport config.

and then it's fine!

    The Airport is essentially a router - leave it on and connected all the time. Set it up once and forget about it. I have one connected to a Verizon DSL modem and just leave it connected all the time. There really is no reason to turn it off unless you experience slowness or a drop in signal, which sometimes can be alleviated by restarting the router (Airport).

    Try leaving it on and see what happens.

    If it helps, I have a Rev. 2 ABS and unplug it regularly for security's sake. It causes no trouble when plugged back in . What OS are you using?

    So you are running OS X, probably with the network settings in Automatic. When you switch off the AirPort link, Automatic will automatically switch to the next active port. Which in this case is the ethernet port. It is active, but probably has nothing connected to and probably isn't configured.

    Make sure when you switch the AirPort link back on that you make sure it is the active port in Network preferences.
