iBook Clamshell Mode?

Is it possible to run an iBook in clamshell mode for presentations in either 9.2.2. or 10.1.5?

    If you mean with the screen shut, you could plug in a USB keyboard and a VGA monitor/projector and use it that way.



    Take note: I don't own a iBook. I use a PowerBook and it works for me, so it might work for you. And I use OS 9.2.2

    Well if that's what you mean that I don't think so. I'm not sure about the Clamshell iBooks, but the Dual-USB iBooks aren't able to be used when it's closed, it'll just go to sleep.

    Nope.



    If you have a 'clamshell' iBook (that is, any color except all-white) it will not run when closed. Can't do it.



    If you have an all-white iBook, you can run it while closed, but only if you have the external monitor cable connected. That keeps it from going to sleep.

    Not true. I think that's possible in 9.1, but in 9.2-10.1.5 it puts it to sleep, even with the external monitor hooked up to it.

    My girlfriend's white 500 has always run with the lid closed as long as the external monitor plugged cable is in. Even if it is not connected to a monitor.



    When Apple ditched the clamshell design they added a small fan to the iBook, so I think it could run with the lid closed.

    Okay so I checked on <a href="http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=13;t=002942#000000"; target="_blank">another forum</a> and it seems that you have to have the monitor cable connected and be running OS 9.1. Apple killed this functionality off in 9.2/X.
