Appletalk - or rather lack thereoff - in X

Got a PowerBook with the latest version of OSX connected to an Appletalk network. Surfing is not a problem but connecting to other machines/servers is! Appletalk is set to active, file sharing is on and the machine's got an IP-address. So everything should be fine. However, in the "Connect to Server..."-window I only get an option to connect to a Localtalk network. Does anyone know why that is? (it's not visible to other computers, either)

All of the other machines on the network must be set to allow sharing over TCP/IP

OS X is automatically set to do so, as apple is trying to phase out Apple Talk with OS X.

It's hard to know what's going on with your setup, but it does indeed work. I'm sure you have "Turn on appletalk" checked in the Network System preferences?
