How many fonts can OS X have?
As the title says. Just wondering if there's a font limit in OS X, and if so what it is.
I have thousands of fonts I'd like to use. I hope I don't need to rely on sketchy 3rd party software (cough ATM Deluxe) for lots of fonts.
AND, when I moved a folder with subfolders, containing my huge font collection, into my Font folder in my Library, NONE of the Fonts were recognized. I'm Admin and the only user. 10.1.4, plain vanilla system, with AppleWorks fonts installed. When I moved a subfolder of Fonts into my fonts folder directly, they all of a sudden worked. Do we have to have all our fonts in the Font folder, and not in subfolders? This would SUCK as I have them very well organized and grouped. Can anyone please help me? I'm trying to switch to OS X but can't until I get this resolved...

Thank you
I just noticed "Collections"... I'm very new to OS X. However, I saw them in Text Edit. I did NOT see them in Office. Will the ability to do Collections in Word/Office come in SR-2? Or will I have to get Office 11

That said, I have no idea how many fonts OSX can handle. I do envy you for having thousands of fonts, as I have a meager 152.
I wish I could be of more help, but I'm just not too experienced of the font front.
So how do we convert fonts?
And do you know if we're supposed to be able to have subfolders in our font folder?
This would make organization, well, possible.
The more I think about it, the more I think Office SUCKS for not supporting Collections. Office 11 for $400 anyone?

Are fonts that are located in sub-folders of the OS X fonts folders recognized by applications?
Tests of Jaguar have shown this to be true.

ZO, anyone else with Jaguar, can you validate this? This would be AWESOME! Now all we need is for M$ to get off their high and proprietary horse, and support Collections and other Apple technology.
