Function key lock?

I have a new PowerBook and everything has been great. The problem I am having is with the function keys. It is pretty annoying to have to press the "fn" key and the f-key in the heat of battle in Diablo II, or WarCraft. Is there any way to lock the "fn"key or better yet, reverse it's operation so that the f-keys are function keys by default and they operate as the system keys (brightness, volume etc.) when the "fn" key is pressed?
