iMac DV modem not responding

I finally got my iMac DV 400 running again (problem seems to have been bad RAM).

But after completely reinstalling OS 9 from the original System Install disc, I have a problem with the modem. When I try to connect via Remote Access, I get the following message...

The connection attempt failed: An unexpected

Open Transport error occurred.

There may be insufficient memory to connect

or a problem with the port selection in the

Modem control panel.

In the Modem control panel, I can choose the internal modem, but am unable to select a port...

Connect via: <no serial ports available>

What's going on, and how do I fix this?

if your p-ram got zapped maybe your prefs got lost.

i would check all internet/network related controlpanels:

    -modem

    -remote access

    -appletalk

    -tcp/ip

I've tried checking the control panels for

    remote access

    tcp/ip

    appletalk

and set them up like I have with this Powerbook (which, of course, is connecting successfully).

But with the Powerbook, I can select "Internal Modem" next to "Connect via:" in the Modem control panel. I don't have this option with the iMac. I should have the option, though, right?

Why isn't the modem registering? It's like the iMac doesn't know it's there.

OK, I took it in for repair. It turns out that the modem just needed to be reseated. Must have come loose when I shipped it.

Hopefully this is the end of my iMac woes (giving it to Mom and Dad and want it to be in tiptop shape).

    Cheers,
