MP4 means 4,000 songs in your pocket on 10gig iPod. Firewire2 will double the transfer speeds. When do you think Apple will implement these two technolgies?

Hmmm... not for awhile. First Apple has to implement FireWire2 in their computers. MP4 support seems here but did you ever think about how many "MP4's" you have lying on your hard drive?

There's a rumour flying around that the iPod 10 is already sporting Firewire 2

Why cant they just put an MP4 encoder into iTunes, then, considering you would already own all the CDs, because we are all lawful people who do not steal music , we can just encode them again!

I know I would do this if it means more quality for less space, and also, think about how fast the new files would be on Gnutella,

About FireWire 2, keep hoping, it will not happen because Apple is doing fine right now, Maybe, sometimes, it is nice to wait for data to flow, imagine data being able to copy instantly, you would be left with so much time afterwards, to just do nothing

    too many commas, right?

i don't see how mp4 support could really hurt the iPod in any way, but even if iTunes can rip, or convert cds or mp3s to mp4, i don't see it becoming mainstream for a while. i have ~5GB worth of mp3s, and i ain't about to convert them all, even if it means freeing up 2.5G's. And there are plenty of people who have a lot more mp3s than me.
