Login Shell

When I open up the Terminal.app application all that is displayed is "Welcome To Darwin". The cursor is underneath it, but there is no command prompt. I tried switching the shell from the default login shell to the /bin/tcsh. When I open a new terminal window there is a big blank space, and a command prompt. I also cannot start up XDarwin. I belive this is for the same reason. I think that the login shell is corrupt, is there any way to replace it or fix it somehow?

the /bin/tcsh is the default shell.

If you changed the shell did you add it to /etc/shells?

if you do a > nidump passwd / < what shell do you have?

forgot to add - Although bash is in /etc/shells I don't think its on the system
