Transfer iTunes Playlist

I just got a new iMac and I want to transfer my play lists from iTunes 2 in Mac OS 9.2 to my old machine to iTunes 3 in 10.2 (yes, 10.2.. it came with the update) on my new machine. Any ideas how to go about that? I keep all my mp3s on an external firewire drive so transfering them is not much of an issue.

Alright, it should be just this easy...

While on your old machine under 9.2, connected to your external firewire harddrive, and running iTunes 2, choose "export song list" from the File menu.

Choose whichever file format it allows you to use, if XML is available, use that (I'm not sure if iTunes 2 allows you to export your song list to XML). Save that file onto the firewire harddrive. Do this for each of your play lists.

The playlist will include the path and filename for each song, along with pertinent data about each song.

Now, connect the firewire drive to your new imac and launch iTunes 3. Choose "Import" from the file menu, and select the playlist files you just exported onto the firewire drive.

It should be just that easy, let me know if it works at all.

    ciao,
