true UNIX on my Mac

Unix, that is, in my mind, downloading source and compiling the darn suckers. And therefore, Apple always claiming that they provide FreeBSD UNIX with an Aqua GUI, I would like to do nothing less.

I have developer tools installed (so can compile different C flavours). There is this one thing that I want to compile, but it claims it needs:

X11, Xpm, GTK+, pthread libraries

(the X11 missing for sure).

Does anybody know what these animals are? Can I add them to my system? What about the rest of them?

HELP

You probably just want a Darwin install.

Try <a href="http://www.omnigroup.com."; target="_blank">www.omnigroup.com.</a> They also have a good developer mailing list for this type of question.
