Apple iOS 6 Developer / Maps question

Hi all,


 


First post to the forum.


 


I am interested in developing an iPhone app. I have programming experience but not in this area. I looked at Apple's documentation but couldn't find anything specific to iOS 6 that didn't require registration, so I figured I would ask here.


 


My app involves using the GPS / Mapping technology. Does anyone know if I develop an App for iOS 6 the extent that I would have access to information from the new Maps information? Specifically, I want to know not only the GPS coordinates (which I understand is available in iOS 5), but what road I am currently on (which I think is usually proprietary).


 


For example, if the phone is on Market Street, how hard would it be to code an message to appear in the app that says "you are on Market Street" as opposed to "You are at coordinates xyz"?
