cannot mix and burn my own dvd's

I had a lot of super 8 and 16 mm films transferred to dvd so that I could manipulate them to make some cohesive movies. The company that did the transfer said this was the way to go. Now after they have been paid they say that I cannot edit and burn new dvd's off of my own dvd's....copyright protection they claim...I find this hard to believe but as a newbie to this I need an answer to solve this dilemma.

I have a G4- 1ghz mac, lots of memory. Final cut pro as well as Imovie Please any solutions?

Hmm... even if they were right, what's going to happen? Who's going to find out? I mean... really? I wouldn't worry about it.

Are you wanting to know, technically, the process to get video of the DVD or are you worried about copyright.

If you're worried about copyright then don't, it's your film.

If you're don't know how to do it technically then you can do one of two things.

    A) Get the company to give you the .mpg files that they must have created as part of the process of creating the DVDs (easier i would think)

    B) Use the DVD backup tools tools that people use for 'real' DVDs to get the .mpg off the disk.

If you clarify what you need there will be someone who can talk you through it.
