Linux - Win2K connection via USB?

I should know this but i don't remember...

Problem:

Need to collect two pcs. Other runs linux (mandrake 9.0), other win2k. win2k laptop does not have network cable thing = has to be via usb.

Linux pc does not have a cd rewriter, thus all files in that computer should be able to be seen and copied to the win2k pc. also, copying some files from win2k pc to linux would not be bad but at the moment it's less necessary.

the linux has also win2k so win2k to win2k is no prob, but from linux to win2k.

anyone remembers or figures how to config those?

Emergency.. and i don't want to go to look any windows boards to go ask for that

You can simply connect any two Computers with Network cards by using a Ethernet Flip cable (a couple of the wires are fliped). This cable can be bought or created by the crafty and knowledgable.

Two Windows Computers is extremely easy this way, you might need to do a tad bit of research on how to mount the windows drive from Linux (check google, or some more active windows advocates).

Of course, you could (theoretically) always temporarily install Windows on the Linux Box, use the flip-cable option like I advised above, and copy the files over Windows -> Windows. After doing this, you could simply mount the windows partition you copied over the cable, get what you need, and remove windows from that computer...

Eh, that's kind of taking an easy way out, but if you know what you're doing you could do it in 1 easy step by just mounting the other computer via the flip-cable.
