how to format a wd my passport for mac external hard drive to fat32

I have a wd my passport external hard drive for mac and when i use disk utility to format it to fat 32 only get


exFAT


MAC OS EXTENDED (CASE SENSITIVE, JOURNALED)


MAC OS EXTENDED (JOURNALED)


in the format drop down menu. 


is there anyway to change this so i can format my hard drive so i can watch movies on my LG tv?

    Disk Utility:


     


    Select the top level of the drive, then you should get an option for "Partition" settings... select that.


     


    Once you select a new partition scheme (1 Partition ?), you will be able to select "Options" below the partition schematic window.


     


    Within those options, you need to select "MBR" (Master Boot Record) ... that Partition Scheme will then allow the option for FAT32 when formatting the drive.

    This is what you should be seeing, at least in Mountain Lion.


     



     


    What version of OS X do you have? And when you load up the drive, are there any special folders in the volume that load with it? For example, a folder named "WD" (or similar) that you can't delete, or which contains special "utilities" made by Western Digital?
