Refurb'd MacBook Pros: What discount would you require to make it "worth it"? (ROP....)

Hi, all.

I'm debating whether to buy a 15" MBP Retina for $1850 from Apple or a new one from MacMall for $2000.

-1-  Is it worth it to get the refurbed one to save only 7%-ish?

-2-  Any conspiracy theorists think the refurbed retina MBP may actually be a brand new one being quietly sold by Apple at a reduced price?  ;)

Thank you.

There's plenty of threads here covering the refurb question.

The short answer is (for me at least), yes, they're worth it.

I've bought several over the years and they have been both cosmetically and functionally indistinguishable from new. In one instance, the machine (a black Macbook) came in a brown box rather than the normal one a new machine would have shipped in, but the machine and accompanying components were otherwise packed as if they were brand new. You also get the same warranty as a new machine as well as the option to add Applecare if you wish.
