10.1.5 server and 10.2 workstations = permissions nightmare

The studio where my wife works has an OS X server (version 10.1.5) and have now moved all the workstations to 10.2

The problem is if a person makes a folder or file from their 10.2 workstation they become the owner. Other members of the same group can only read it, even though they *should* be able to write to it.

Is there a way around this or will they need to upgrade the server to 10.2 (which they haven't done for cost reasons).

Also, how *stressful* is the upgrade to 10.2 server? A quick look on the Apple support pages talks about copying files and share points to another partition etcm exporting as XML. That will freak them out no end...

The transition to 10.2 Server is cake. Just make backups of your users and groups so you don't lose them... just in case.
