IE missing file buttons

Hey guys and gals,

The past two nights I've noticed that the bar with the page title and the red, yellow and green buttons of my initial IE window is missing and I can't move the window(resizing still works). In fact, it seems IE has taken over all the display except below the window. New windows have the above and can be moved.

Is this a Jaguar artifact?

Anyone else noticed this? IE 5.2.2, OS 10.2.3

It sounds like for some reason IE has stuck its default window location up above the title bar. This is a serious no-no on Mac OS X, but I think we all know about how piss-poor a job MS does with sticking to Apple's UI guidelines.

    Solution?

    Use Safari.

Well, okay, if you HAVE to use IE, try deleting its preference file. That will reset the default window location but will also kill your other browser prefs. It shouldn't be too hard to restore them (it'll leave your favorites and cookies intact because they are kept in other files). I can't tell you exactly where the prefs file is, though, because I haven't used IE in about 2 years on my OSX machine. Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say.

    Thanks, everyone.

As soon as Safari adds Autofill and a status bar it will be my browser of choice, but not before.

Til then, I'll call up a new window in IE and command-W the first, not necessarily in that order.
