I wanna run the KDE interface in X11 or XFree86 somehow and use Linux apps like Konqueror and XMMS, but I am clueless on how. Its just all files that you cant expand to anything that will open up and I dont know how youd build them. First off, where can I download KDE for PowerPC and second how do I get it to work through X11? In X11, I have tried to run XMMS but to no avail. I just wanna run it!

well, first, you don't need kde for xmms. i used to run it all the time without. second, if u really want to play with x11, you should go to <a href="http://fink.sf.net/."; target="_blank">http://fink.sf.net/.</a>; download and install fink. fink is a program that downloads and installs (sometimes builds then installs) *nix programs. it makes sure that all dependancies are filled when installing things, so you dont get any missing library errors. right now though, i dont think fink has a binary version of kde, and the last time i downloaded their source for it, it took a long ass time (1+ days) to build. i dont think k is really worth all the effort. gnome is a similar desktop environment, and has just about all the same stuff that kde has.

If you want X11, why don't youjust download it from the apple website?

Apple supports things like open gl.

    Why would you want KDE?

The experieces I've had are bad.

    Its really user unfriendly.

    I personally actually prefer M$
