The Dorsal Story And The G5.
I have recently joined the message board and have been doing a lot of "catch up reading" on the subject of the G5 and "Dorsal".
I am confused about a few things.
1) Which Dorsal is really Dorsal?
2) How does he know so much?
3) Where does he work?
4) Why does he post so intermitantly?
5) What does the majority of appleinsider feel about Dorsal, is he a liar or is he in the know?
6) How would he have anything to do with the G5 unless he worked for either Apple or Motorola?
7) Wouldnt his company fnd him out?

Either he works with prototype Apple hardware or he's an engineer who reads the rumor sites thoroughly.

Lots of reasons. First of all, he might just be a busy guy. Second of all, he might not have all that much to tell us. It might take him a long time to put various lines of speculation together into a plausible prototype. Lastly, if introduces delays of random length between when he actually learns something and when he posts, it's harder to track him. Note that I'm not assuming anything about whether he's the geniune article.

He seems to have more credibility than most people who claim insider knowledge, but there are always skeptics.
There are two unfortunate facts facing the would-be Apple rumormonger: One is that you can't prove your credibility without identifying yourself, and you're toast as soon as you've been identified. The other is that people here judge your credibility by which releases you predict, but if you're looking at Apple prototype hardware, there's no guarantee Apple will release it or anything remotely like it. So it's theoretically possible to be a true insider who posts 100% accurate information, and who has zero credibility on these boards because none of the things he's reported have ever seen the light of day!

It's possible that he does. Or, he could work with a number of crucial vendors whose products are tied closely to either Apple's hardware or its software.
There is always the possibility that he doesn't see Apple prototype hardware, and he's just got enough engineering savvy to collate rumors from other sites together with informed speculation and produce a plausible result. No-one has proof either way, and unless he seriously screws up, no-one will.

I don't care where he works as long as his posts are fun to read. I mean, even if we knew where he works that wouldn't change a thing but bring him into trouble. There would sure as hell be people who'd say "I don't believe he works there" which wouldn't change his credibility, but it could likely cost him his job.
Let's see:
Dorsal posts prototype specs and is smart enough to cover his tracks and not get drawn in by "Yeah, prove it," taunts.
A prototype Apple MoBo with very Dorsal like specs makes an appearance (and mysterious disappearance) on eBay.
A few days later, a new member shows up very interested in Dorsal. This guy seems to know a lot about the boards but wants to know how to differentiate between 'Dorsals' <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

Of course I could be 100% wrong and this character could be risking his job and possible legal ramifications just for an ego trip on AI of all places. Stranger things have happened re: workerbee.
To summarize: I think Dorsal is full of proverbial Shite, but I could be wrong.

I was reading and found a lot of information provided by a "Dorsal" and I wanted to know if he is indeed a fake or an appleinsider of some kind.
Please people, I am just a nice fellow that is interested in Apple news and rumors.
