URLs in Safari iOS7: what am I missing?

In overloading the URL window to also be a search and find window, something seems to have gotten lost. I've found the .com button lurking under the period, but what about the slash, dash and underscore? It's relatively easy to get to slash'n'dash by holding the 123 key, but underscore is buried two keyboards away! This reminds me (but not in a good way) of when they "simplified" the interface of the shuffle to the point of uselessness.

Has anyone found a way to get these back, or do I just have to grit my teeth & live with it?
