Sleep powerbook while compiling?

I am compiling openDX through Fink, but I am going to have to move while it's compiling. Can I make my machine sleep in the middle of a compile and have it continue OK when I open it up.

    Thanks. It didn't end up taking as long as it looked like it would, but this will be helpful in the future.
