Hard drive audit discrepancy

Hi,

 

When I check my occupied hard drive space with Activity Monitor, it says 60 gigs (out of 120). However, when I run an audit running OmniMacSweeper (and other applications) I come up with only 20.1 gigs of content.  Where's the rest and how do I get it back?

    Try emptying the trash. That MAY work. 

     

    Edit: That may work IF you've deleted items on the HDD. Those items don't seem to be off the HDD until Trash is emptied.
